Vincy Heat beat Belize 1-0 at FFB Stadium in Belmopan on Tuesday night, making it two wins from two in the 2026/2027 Concacaf Nations League. Andrew Johnson’s first international goal sent St. Vincent and the Grenadines to the top of League B Group D.

The only goal came early. Defender Andrew Johnson finished from close range in the 10th minute, and Vincy Heat protected that lead for the remaining 80 minutes against a Belize side playing at home and riding a strong run of recent Nations League form.

“BACK-TO-BACK WINS!” the SVG Football Federation posted after the final whistle, crediting Johnson with the winner.

A first goal for Johnson

For Johnson, the goal was his first for the national team. The Philadelphia native, who plays his club football for Charlotte FC in Major League Soccer, was earning his eighth cap for St. Vincent and the Grenadines, according to Philadelphia Soccer Now.

The former Cornell University standout was selected by Charlotte in the second round of the 2025 MLS SuperDraft and signed with the club ahead of the 2026 season. He scored three times in 23 regular-season appearances for Crown Legacy, Charlotte’s MLS Next Pro affiliate.

Johnson made way in the 70th minute as Vincy Heat rotated fresh legs into the side to see the result out.

Discipline under pressure

Belize pushed for an equalizer as the match wore on, and the contest grew physical. Vincy Heat goalkeeper Lemus Christopher was booked in the 34th minute and Michael Findlay picked up a yellow card in the 67th. On the Belize side, Krisean López and Freybin Pagoada were both cautioned late, in the 83rd and 90th minutes respectively.

The victory also halted a strong Belizean streak. Heading into the match, Belize had been looking to extend its Nations League winning run to six games, according to pre-match figures published by Sports Mole. The result keeps Vincy Heat’s perfect record against Belize in this competition intact.

Anderson set the tone

Tuesday’s win built on an opening-night victory on Saturday, September 26, when captain Oalex Anderson scored twice, in the 14th and 29th minutes, as St. Vincent and the Grenadines beat French Guiana 2-1 at the same Belmopan venue. Yvelin Nozile pulled one back for French Guiana in the 63rd minute.
