Vincypowa News (VPN) is an independent digital news outlet covering St. Vincent and the Grenadines, the wider Caribbean, and the international stories that shape our region. Our mandate is accountability journalism under a simple principle: Power to the People. This page explains who we are, how we work, how we handle mistakes, and the standards we hold ourselves to.

Ownership and independence

Vincypowa News is independently owned, edited, and operated by Lance Davis, who serves as editor, publisher, and primary reporter. VPN is not owned by, funded by, or affiliated with any political party, government, or candidate. We hold the current administration and the former administration to the same standard. Our loyalty is to Vincentians and to the accuracy of the record, not to any party or personality.

What we cover and how we report it

We report on government, public spending, crime and the courts, the economy, and the regional and international developments that affect St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Our reporting is verification-first. Before we publish a factual claim, we work to confirm it against primary sources: official statements, court and police releases, public records, named officials, and reporting from established outlets. Where a claim is contested or cannot be independently confirmed, we say so plainly and label it as an allegation rather than established fact. We aim to give readers the information they need to reach their own conclusions. On matters of legitimate public debate, we present the strongest version of each side rather than telling readers what to think.

Sourcing

We prefer named, on-the-record sources and original documents. When we rely on another outlet’s reporting, we attribute it. We do not present rumor or social-media claims as fact, and we distinguish clearly between what has been verified, what is alleged, and what is opinion or analysis.

Bylines and authorship

Every article carries a byline identifying its author. Our reporting is written and edited by people, and a named human editor is responsible for everything we publish.

Use of artificial intelligence

We use artificial intelligence as a production and research aid, for tasks such as helping check facts against public sources, assisting with drafting and formatting, and preparing images and layout. AI is a tool in our process, not our editorial voice. Every article is reviewed by a human editor before publication, and Lance Davis holds final editorial responsibility for all content, including its accuracy. We do not publish AI-generated content without human verification and review. We correct errors promptly and transparently. When we get something wrong, we fix it and, where the correction is material, we note at the foot of the article what was changed and when. We do not quietly delete or rewrite the record to hide a mistake.
