SVG Named Caribbean’s Leading Green Destination at 2026 World Travel Awards

St. Vincent and the Grenadines won two Caribbean-wide titles and a dozen national awards at the regional gala in Jamaica, with Sandals Saint Vincent taking the region’s top all-inclusive prize.

St. Vincent and the Grenadines has been named Caribbean’s Leading Green Destination 2026 at the World Travel Awards, one of two regional titles the country won at the organization’s Caribbean and The Americas gala in Jamaica.

Sandals Saint Vincent and the Grenadines took the second, Caribbean’s Leading All-Inclusive Resort 2026. The winners were announced at a ceremony at Princess Grand Jamaica on Sunday, October 11, according to the organizers.

Two regional World Travel Awards from nine nominations

SVG went into this year’s awards with nine Caribbean-level nominations, as Vincypowa News reported in August. Two of them turned into wins:

  • Caribbean’s Leading Green Destination 2026: St. Vincent and the Grenadines
  • Caribbean’s Leading All-Inclusive Resort 2026: Sandals Saint Vincent and the Grenadines

The other seven regional categories went elsewhere. Dominica was named Caribbean’s Leading Nature Destination, Anguilla beat Mustique for Leading Luxury Island Destination, and Sugar Beach, A Viceroy Resort in Saint Lucia took Leading Luxury Resort ahead of Mandarin Oriental, Canouan. Jamaica’s Malatai Villa won Leading Luxury Private Villa, a category in which Villa ONE @ Grenadine Hills and Hummingbird Villa on Mustique were nominated. Princess Senses The Mangrove in Jamaica won Leading Wedding Resort over Canouan Estate Resort & Villas, and Privé Jets beat SVG Air for Leading Private Jet Charter.

SVG’s national winners

The World Travel Awards also name the leading businesses within each country. The 2026 St. Vincent and the Grenadines winners are:

  • Leading Hotel and Leading Beach Hotel: Bequia Beach Hotel
  • Leading All-Inclusive Resort and Leading Wedding Hotel: Sandals Saint Vincent and the Grenadines
  • Leading Boutique Hotel: Soho Beach House Canouan
  • Leading Hotel Suite: Two-Bedroom Oceanview Suite @ Mandarin Oriental, Canouan

Why the green title matters

The green title from the World Travel Awards plays to the image SVG has been selling to visitors: volcanic rainforest on mainland St. Vincent, quiet islands and marine areas across the Grenadines, and a tourism product built more on nature than on mass-market resorts. It gives the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Tourism Authority an internationally recognized title to put in its marketing as it competes with larger Caribbean destinations.

What the World Travel Awards are

Founded in 1993, the World Travel Awards run regional galas around the world each year, with winners chosen by votes from travel professionals and the public. Regional winners go on to compete at a grand final later in the year. Like other industry awards, they reward profile and voter turnout as well as quality, and destinations campaign actively for votes, as SVG’s tourism authority did before voting closed on August 28.
