St Vincent and the Grenadines Crowned 2026 ECVA Men’s Volleyball Champions

Vincy men beat Saint Lucia in the Tortola final to take regional gold, turning the tables on a side that had beaten them earlier in the same tournament.

St Vincent and the Grenadines are the 2026 Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association senior men’s champions, after the national team defeated Saint Lucia in the gold medal match on Saturday in Tortola, British Virgin Islands.

The result, announced by the ECVA, caps a strong week for the Vincy men at the region’s flagship indoor tournament. The association hailed a standout “performance from start to finish” as the team closed out the championship.

The road to gold

St Vincent and the Grenadines reached the final by sweeping Bermuda 3-0 in the semifinal, taking the sets 25-18, 25-22 and 25-20. Earlier in the tournament the Vincy men had already served notice of their form by beating defending champions Antigua and Barbuda 3-0, handing the title holders an early setback.

The final also carried a measure of payback. Saint Lucia had beaten St Vincent and the Grenadines in an earlier round of the same championship, so the gold medal match gave the Vincy side the chance to answer that loss on the biggest stage of the week. Saint Lucia had booked its place in the final by upsetting Dominica 3-2 in a five set semifinal.

A regional stage

The 2026 ECVA Senior Men’s and Women’s Volleyball Championship was held from 12 to 16 August at the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex in Tortola, hosted by the Virgin Islands Volleyball Association in partnership with the ECVA. Eight men’s national teams took part, including Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Bermuda, Dominica, Grenada, Saint Lucia, host British Virgin Islands and the eventual champions.

The gold adds to a run of regional success for Vincy volleyball and gives the programme a marker of progress at senior level against the strongest sides in the Eastern Caribbean.

What we can confirm, and what we are still checking. The gold medal win comes directly from the ECVA, the tournament organiser, so Vincypowa News is reporting the championship and the 3-1 result as confirmed. The association’s own post listed set scores of 17-25, 25-17 and 25-13. That is three sets for a four set result, and the first two of those scores match St Vincent and the Grenadines’ earlier loss to Saint Lucia, so we are treating the full set by set breakdown as provisional until the official NORCECA match report is published. We will update this article once the confirmed scoresheet is available.
