SpaceX Posts $4.4 Billion Profit as AI Revenue Overtakes Starlink

SpaceX earnings surged in the third quarter of 2026 as the company reported a $4.4 billion profit and a sharp rise in revenue driven by artificial intelligence and Starlink. For the first time, its Super Intelligence business generated more revenue than its satellite connectivity operation, although Starlink remained the stronger contributor to operating profit.

Results released October 20 showed quarterly revenue of $14.58 billion, up 161 percent from $5.58 billion a year earlier and above Wall Street expectations of approximately $12.87 billion. Net income reached $4.4 billion, reversing a $1.1 billion loss in the same quarter of 2025. The company recorded $2.79 billion in operating income and $8.81 billion in adjusted EBITDA, a non-GAAP performance measure.

The results mark SpaceX’s second quarterly earnings report since its June 2026 stock market debut. Its shares began trading under the symbol SPCX on June 12.

SpaceX Earnings Show AI Overtaking Starlink in Revenue

The Super Intelligence (SI) segment generated $7.56 billion in revenue, up from $813 million a year earlier. That amounted to roughly 52 percent of SpaceX’s total quarterly revenue, overtaking Connectivity, which includes Starlink.

The division’s revenue growth came principally from cloud-computing infrastructure agreements, its acquisition of the AI coding company Cursor, and broader use of Grok products, according to SpaceX. SI solutions and infrastructure accounted for $7.02 billion in quarterly revenue; advertising contributed another $538 million.

SpaceX completed its acquisition of Cursor on August 14 in a transaction with an implied equity value of $60 billion. Cursor contributed $608 million of revenue from the acquisition date through September 30.

SI also moved into operating profitability, posting $431 million in operating income compared with a $1.72 billion operating loss a year earlier. Its nameplate computing capacity reached 1.7 gigawatts by September 30. Nameplate capacity describes installed or rated computing infrastructure, not necessarily how much was in use at any given moment.

Starlink Remains the Stronger Profit Generator

The SpaceX earnings report showed that its Connectivity segment generated $5.25 billion in revenue, a 69 percent year-over-year increase. Starlink consumer subscribers reached 13.6 million, up 1.6 million during the quarter, while average monthly revenue per consumer subscriber was $69.

Enterprise and government business helped fuel the expansion, with revenue in that category rising 91 percent compared with a year earlier.

One important distinction is that AI led in revenue, but Starlink still led in operating profit. Connectivity reported $2.37 billion in operating income, more than five times the $431 million generated by SI. The numbers show how the fast-growing AI business is changing SpaceX’s revenue mix while the established satellite service continues to provide much of its operating earnings.

SpaceX Earnings Show the Cost of AI Expansion

The SpaceX earnings report also highlighted extraordinary investment: $19.59 billion in capital expenditures during the quarter, including $16.44 billion devoted to Super Intelligence infrastructure. That total capital spending exceeded the company’s quarterly revenue.

Capital expenditures are investments in long-term assets rather than ordinary expenses recorded in full against the quarter’s profit. Nevertheless, the scale of spending places considerable importance on whether demand for computing capacity and AI products continues to grow.

Starship Makes an Operational Breakthrough

Space operations generated $1.77 billion in revenue, up about 6 percent from the previous year. SpaceX said its Starship Flight 14 completed the first revenue-generating Starship mission, deploying 26 Starlink V3 satellites into its broadband network.

The company reported 35 launches during the quarter, including 12 customer launches. Its space division recorded a small operating loss of $7 million as it continued research and development investment in Starship. VINCYPOWA News previously covered SpaceX’s plans to place operational Starlink satellites into orbit aboard Starship.

What the Results Mean

The third-quarter report shows a business undergoing rapid change. AI infrastructure has overtaken Starlink in sales far sooner than its traditional rocket-launch identity might suggest, yet Connectivity remains the company’s largest source of operating income.

For investors, the central question is whether the new computing business can sustain its extraordinary revenue growth while absorbing the cost of building more infrastructure. For the satellite industry, the results also show Starlink’s growing reach in consumer, enterprise, and government markets.

Taken together, the SpaceX earnings figures show that the company can report a substantial profit while financing an aggressive expansion. Whether those gains can be maintained through future quarters remains to be seen.
