The Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) is investigating the fatal shooting of a foreign national on the island of Canouan, according to a press release issued Friday.

Officers responded to reports of gunfire at Gym Hill, Canouan at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 24, 2026. Upon arrival, they discovered Daniel Vettrino, 37, a Technical Services Manager of Colombian and Scottish nationality, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the District Medical Officer.

Investigation Ongoing

The RSVGPF has confirmed that a post-mortem examination will be conducted to formally establish the cause of death. Investigations remain active and no arrests have been announced.

The shooting marks a rare instance of lethal violence on Canouan, a small Grenadines island known primarily for its luxury resort developments and secluded beaches. The victim’s professional role as a Technical Services Manager suggests he may have been employed within the island’s hospitality or development sector, though police have not confirmed his employer or the circumstances that led to the shooting.
