Andrew and Tristan Tate were arrested in Miami on Saturday by the United States Marshals Service acting on a sealed warrant, in proceedings brought at the request of the United Kingdom. The arrests came hours after Britain’s Crown Prosecution Service announced it had authorised a substantial expansion of the criminal case against the brothers, bringing the total number of charges to 59.
A spokesperson for the US Department of Justice said Marshals in the Southern District of Florida had taken the two men into custody pursuant to extradition proceedings, carried out in accordance with the treaties and law enforcement agreements governing such matters. Bedfordshire Police confirmed the arrests were connected to its investigation into alleged sexual offences.
The brothers were detained outside the James L. Knight Center in downtown Miami, where Andrew Tate had been scheduled to appear at a bare-knuckle boxing event. Footage published by TMZ appeared to show federal agents handcuffing the two men in front of a crowd before they were placed in vehicles.
The charges
The CPS said the new charging decisions followed the receipt of a further file of evidence from Bedfordshire Police, and that the total number of alleged victims in the case now stands at seven. The alleged offences are said to have taken place in the East of England between July 2010 and August 2017.

According to the CPS, the additional charges against Andrew Tate include seven further counts of rape, three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation, three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and 19 further charges relating to indecent images of a child and extreme pornography.

Malcolm McHaffie, head of the CPS special crime division, said the decisions followed the further evidence file from Bedfordshire Police. Assistant Chief Constable Karena Thomas of Bedfordshire Police said officers from the force’s major crime unit had worked alongside the CPS and both national and international law enforcement agencies as part of what she described as a complex investigation.
An attorney for the brothers, Joseph McBride, said they are innocent and criticised the British decision to seek extradition. The brothers have consistently denied all allegations against them.
No court has tested these allegations. Both men are presumed innocent.

The brothers are expected to appear in federal court in Miami next week, according to a law enforcement source cited by CNN and ABC News. That hearing will begin the extradition process rather than address the substance of the British charges, which would be tried in the United Kingdom if extradition is granted.
Extradition from the United States to the United Kingdom operates under a bilateral treaty and requires a US judge to certify that the request meets treaty conditions, after which the decision passes to the Secretary of State. - United States. The Florida Attorney General’s office has previously confirmed an investigation into the brothers. Saturday’s arrests were made on the British request, not on US charges.
Why this lands in the Caribbean too
Andrew Tate is not a distant figure to Vincentian audiences. His material circulates on the same platforms young men in St Vincent and the Grenadines use daily, and the content is built around an explicit account of how men should regard and treat women. He has previously been removed from TikTok, YouTube and Facebook over hate speech and misogynistic statements, including remarks assigning women responsibility for being sexually assaulted.
That reach is the reason a British court case matters here. Whatever a court eventually determines about the specific allegations, the ideas have already travelled, and they arrive in a region where gender-based violence is a persistent and openly debated problem. Schools, churches and parents across the OECS have found themselves arguing with a voice their children hear more often than they hear them.
